Prop Only Conversions

Davis Aviation Services, Inc., owns various 3 blade propeller only upgrade kits for your single engine Cessna, including the Cessna 185, 206 and 207. We also offer Hartzell and McCauley STC’s to include the Cessna 180, 182, 188, 210, as well as many of the turbo models. Propeller upgrades for other aircraft, not necessarily Cessna, are also available.

The 3 blade propeller only upgrades were designed for several purposes. In some cases, the old McCauley threaded hub models and Hartzell steel hub models have been discontinued and must be replaced with newer design models. Over most 2 blade models, the 3 blade propeller change will improve take off and climb performance dramatically. They will also significantly decrease noise and make the aircraft operate smoothly. Additionally, the newer design propellers can be used with the higher horsepower engine upgrades with a blade angle change, should you decide to upgrade your engine at a later time.

Bigger not necessarily better - Other STC holders offer larger diameter propellers, such as 88 inches, that provide more thrust but require you to reduce the takeoff power to improve propeller efficiency and keep within noise limits as described in Federal Aviation Regulations in part 36. Most of the larger diameter propellers, reduce cruise performance by 5+ knots. You can accomplish a more cohesive installation with a shorter diameter propeller that you can run at full power with no restriction plus keep cruise speed to the maximum level.
